Progressive Imporovements For Progressive Fitness Results

January 30th, 2008 by admin

The number one question I get asked as a fitness specialist is “how do I lose weight without changing my habits”. Here’s a true story about me that happened just a while ago.

A number of weeks ago I took a break from being a nutritionist. and I was out of the town with my family on a nice little mini-vacation.

This was only a few days, but I still had a lot of free time to just relax and think to myself.

I often times I try to think of ways to improve my training, or improve my business, or how I handle my schedule each day.

Sometimes I just can’t relax one bit until I have it just so or near perfect in my mind, whatever it was I was trying to figure out at that moment.

One thought that did occur to me and I want to share it with you here is:

“As long as I’m improving, that’s all I can do.”

As long as I’m working toward that final goal of having things just right - I’m doing my best.

I can’t do any more than my best.

I can’t force the sand in an hourglass to go any faster by worrying about if or constantly obsessing with it.

That reminds me of just how nutrition and fitness are. No matter what you are doing at this moment, as long as your going forward and making gradual positive changes, you’re doing great.

The problem comes when you don’t do anything and still expect change.

Don’t you dare focus on perfection - focus on your gradual changes! (or progression as suggested in the title of this article)

After all, any improvement is better than going in reverse. Just think about it like this, even if you only lose 2 ounces of pure fat each week - just that small amount - which is certainly easy. In 1 year that’s nearly 7 pounds of fat.25 pounds.

I know that sounds pitiful, but it’s progress. Would you rather gain 10 pounds in that same period of time.

I hope you work on improving at least 1 habit, or 1 action this week that will bring at least slight improvement toward your ultimate fitness goals.

I suggest picking 1 habit at a time and working to improve just that habit.

Week by week continue to improve on each habit.

Now go out and expect success!

Aerobic Fitness Pilates

January 30th, 2008 by admin

A fitness craze is steadily sweeping across the globe as people realize the benefits a healthy lifestyle regiment can bring. Combining a well balanced diet with a daily fitness routine can go a long way towards obtaining that healthy regiment. Walking, swimming and tennis are prime examples of activities that can easily be incorporated into a daily routine. Another exceptional exercise option is joining the local gym for workout sessions. All of these are tremendous examples of ways to get moving and keep the body in shape. Another great option that is growing in popularity is Pilates. This exercise program provides body shape results through a series of easy to follow techniques. Pilates provides a whole body response that can not be matched by other fitness programs. This is achieved through isolation and targeting techniques to tone and strengthen the core.

The composition of the core consists of the main muscles within the body.

From a fundamental standpoint, Pilates combines yoga, swimming and Greek Roman exercise with deep breathing techniques. Workouts can be completed in any position that an exerciser feels comfortable in. In addition to the flexibility in position, Pilates offers wide range of motions through techniques. For these reasons, a Pilates session can be completed on an individual basis or as a group workout. These group workouts can take place in a private home, fitness gym or anywhere else participants desire. Everyone from stay at home moms to celebrities are getting involved in Pilates.

With this trend in full motion, fitness trainers have been hard pressed to come up with new and innovative ways to conduct Pilates fitness workouts. This is where aerobics is introduced to the world of Pilates. In the 1980’s, aerobics was thought of as the best way to get in shape and stay in shape. Movements brought heart rates up and increased body sweat. These elements produced results that were believed to be the most efficient way to exercise. What better way to bring two exercise greats together than to create aerobic fitness Pilates classes.

On the surface Pilates does not appear to be an aerobic fitness program. Like many other exercise programs, there are a few moments taken at the beginning to warm up the body and get ready for action. After this, aerobic fitness Pilates moves works the body into a sweat and raise heart rates. This is achieved through upbeat movements that incorporate balls, exercise ropes and other related exercise equipment.

Numerous benefits are produced from engaging in an aerobic fitness Pilates program.

Keeping the body toned and shaped leads to less risk for diabetes, heart disease and strengthens the immune system. The great thing about aerobic fitness Pilates is that it is an exercise routine than can be followed by virtually anyone. The range of participants goes from children all the way up to senior citizens. The senior citizen group received extra benefits due to the fact that aerobic fitness Pilates maintains body circulation systems. The more aerobic fitness Pilates one engages in, the quicker a healthy lifestyle regiment will start showing through a healthy body.

How to Achieve your Fitness Goals

January 30th, 2008 by admin

For many of us, the biggest barrier to fitness success is most likely because we associate pain with the process. We see exercise as a punishment and we don’t associate enough pleasure with completing our fitness goals. When we feel reluctant to do a particular task or change a habit, we struggle to motivate ourselves and lose our enthousiasm. You need to create positive thoughts, pleasurable thoughts about how you will look and how good you will feel in the end. Positive thinking and focusing on the benefits of exercise can help you stay motivated. Another effective way is to focus on the end results if you don’t take action now. For instance, if wearing a swimsuit brings you undesirable feelings, painful thoughts, that might just help you stay committed to an exercise program.

However, to be able to achieve your goals, you must decide on what you really want. You need to have a clear vision on how you want to look like when you achieve your goal. Visualize yourself with the body you want, fix yourself an image in your mind and use it as an incentive. Write down your personal vision of your end result and read it often. Then you can establish weekly goals to help you get the body you want.

Wanting to change is not enough to get you started. If your desires are only a wish, then it will be a struggle turning your vision into reality. You need to develop a “must” feeling and view the changes as urgent. Creating urgency can only help you take action. If it’s important enough for you, it will lead you to positive action steps toward your fitness goals. The law of attraction states that what you focus on grows. If you think negative, you will get negative results. Do you always come up with a reason for not losing weight? Maybe you just can’t find time to exercise? If you believe that you can’t achieve your fitness goals, then you won’t. The only way you can be certain you’ll achieve your goals is by believing in them. When we think about something over and over again, repeating it to ourselves again and again, it becomes a belief. And when you feel certain, you do it.

Have you been struggling to lose body fat, trying all the diets and weight loss products out there only to end up right back where you started from? You need to understand that there is no quick, effortless way to lose weight. Crash diets are unhealthy. They will only work against your body in the long-run and set you up to failure. Changing your eating habits and exercising is not a punishment, it’s all about appreciating your body and doing everything you can to take care of it.

If you want results from your fitness program, you will have to put as much thought and effort into what you’re eating. Fitness and nutrition go together, you can’t do one without the other. The best way to help you improve your diet is to write down what you eat for a couple of days. It will make you more conscious of what you’re eating and will help you make better nutritional choices. It makes it easy to look back on what you ate throughout the day and it gives you a good indication of what you need to change.

Most people would like to lose weight, but few are willing to do what it takes to accomplish their goals. It probably took you many years to put on the extra weight so don’t expect to lose it overnight. Be realistic when setting your goals and set goals that you know you can achieve. If you really want to achieve your fitness goals, think positive, believe in yourself, properly identify your motivation and adopt a healthy eating pattern. Don’t accept anything less than what will make you happy.

Sildenafil Citrate Viagra… Good For Millions But Not For Everyone

January 10th, 2008 by admin

Since it was approved by the FDA in March 1998, the drug sildenafil citrate, sold under the brand name Viagra, has become immensely popular among men suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED or impotence). Manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, Viagra is the first pill approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in the US, and is available by prescription only. Millions of men who have experienced difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection have turned to Viagra for assistance. By helping increase blood flow to the penis, Viagra has helped men of all ages achieve longer and harder erections, resulting in improved sexual performance and satisfaction.

Yet despite the impressive results that many men (and their partners) have reported after using Viagra and its growing reputation as the sexual “wonder drug,” it is important to recognize that Viagra is not for everyone.

Is Viagra For You?

* Viagra is recommended exclusively for the treatment of male impotence, also known as erectile dysfunction. The best way to know for sure whether you have this condition is to consult with a qualified, licensed physician.

* Since Viagra is prescribed specifically for the treatment of ED, it is not recommended for recreational use. Men who have not experienced erectile dysfunction should not take Viagra.

* Similarly, Viagra should not be taken as an aphrodisiac, or to increase sexual desire. There is no scientific or medical evidence to suggest the Viagra stimulates sexual desire. And because some men who take Viagra may experience side effects, the drug should be used with care and under proper medical supervision.

* Viagra is not recommended for men who are already taking another drug to treat their erectile dysfunction, or for those who are undergoing some other form of treatment to improve their erections.

* Men who take any medicine containing nitrates should NEVER take Viagra, since taking the two in combination with one another could result in a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Nitroglycerin, a medicine commonly prescribed in the treatment of chest pain, is an example of a drug that contains nitrates.

* Some recreational drugs, like amyl nitrate (aka poppers) also contain nitrates. Men who take recreational drugs that contain nitrates should NEVER take Viagra.

* While it’s really common sense, it is worth mentioning that men should not take Viagra if they do not intend to have sex within a few hours of taking the drug. Viagra typically takes effect within about one hour, and it lasts for four hours, on average.

* Men who have recently suffered a stroke or heart attack are generally not recommended to take Viagra. Similarly, anyone who has been advised not to engage in sexual intercourse because of cardiovascular risk should not take the drug.

* Men who suffer from low blood pressure, also known as hypotension, shouldn’t take Viagra.

* Men who are taking a protease inhibitor for the treatment of HIV or for any other reason can take Viagra, but their dosage may need to be adjusted.

Possible Viagra Side Effects To Consider

If your physician determines that you have some level of erectile dysfunction and that Viagra may help your condition, you should be aware of the possible side effects you may experience after taking the drug, some more common than others:

* The most commonly reported side effects from taking Viagra are headache, upset stomach, sneezing, flushing and mild (temporary) visual changes.

* Rare, but more serious side effects of using Viagra have included: prolonged erections (lasting more than four hours), irregular heartbeat, stroke, heart attack and sudden death. With many of the rare, heart-related side effects, the patients were later determined to have had already-existing heart problems.

The best way to know whether Viagra is right for the treatment of your erectile dysfunction is to consult with a physician.

Selling Generic Viagra Online: More Spam, Anyone?

January 10th, 2008 by admin

If you’re like most email users, your inbox is regularly inundated with generic Viagra messages bearing subject lines like: “Shirley Evans! Add 2 inches to your p*nis with discount V*agra!”

“Ejaculate like a porn star, real Viagra” or some such nonsense.

This type of spam has become so bad that the Pfizer Viagra website now hosts a page of information warning visitors about fake generic Viagra and discount Viagra.

FACT: There is no such thing as generic Viagra, since Pfizer still holds the patent on the drug for a few more years.

So if you get emails or see ads that promote either generic Viagra or discount Viagra or cheap Viagra, you’re looking at a fake, illegal product. It isn’t an alternative to Viagra, isn’t FDA approved, isn’t manufactured and dispensed in the US, and isn’t safe to take.

How to Recognize Fake Generic Viagra

Hopefully, you’ll never actually purchase fake discount Viagra. But if you do come across it, here’s what to watch for:

* Fake pills may look different. They may be the wrong size, shape or color. Real Viagra pills are diamond shaped and blue, with the word “Pfizer” on one side and the dosage on the other.

* Real Pfizer Viagra does not come in soft tabs nor are the pills dissolvable.

* Real Pfizer Viagra pills are not scored in the middle and are not meant to be cut in half.

* Real Pfizer Viagra comes only in hard, unscored tablets of 25mg, 50mg, or 100mg.

Generic Viagra Spam

The best clue that you’re being sold illegal generic Viagra is also the easiest one to spot. If you get an email you didn’t ask for from someone you don’t know trying to sell you Viagra, it’s spam. And that’s a good indicator they aren’t pushing genuine Pfizer Viagra.

Respectable online and offline pharmacies only communicate with customers who want to hear from them… people who have signed up at their website or made contact directly with the company.

Price is another good clue. Generic Viagra is often sold at a few dollars a tablet. Pfizer Viagra is more costly because years of research went into developing it, the product works and you can trust it not to harm you if taken correctly. Not so with the “discount Viagra” being plugged online. Generic Viagra Websites

If you do a Google search on “generic Viagra”, the search engine will return some 3 million results pages. Visit a few of them and you’ll notice slick designs and fancy graphics that make the sites appear legitimate.

But look closer. Read the copy. You’ll find it rife with sloppy, convoluted language, spelling and grammar mistakes, and falsehoods. Example:

“Best thing about generic viagra is that everything right from chemical proposition, effect, and the way this tablet is use is same as stated in Brand Viagra.” A Word About Discount Viagra of The Herbal Sort

Another common myth doing the rounds is that there is a herbal Viagra that treats impotence. In fact, there are many herbal aphrodisiacs (such as yohimbe) that are supposed to help turn you on. But there simply is no herbal product that does what Viagra does for men.

So, in the new Wild West known as the Internet, it pays to keep alert and skeptical about drug claims (and prices) that seem too good to be true. When it comes to generic Viagra, they always are.
